For Immediate Release

Thursday, February 2, 2012.

In celebration of Maine’s Nonprofit Day, Electricity Maine has partnered with Good Shepherd Food-Bank (GSFB) in an effort to help feed Mainers in need.

For every home or small business who enrolls with Electricity Maine using the “How Did You Hear About Us” code: Good Shepherd Food-Bank, Electricity Maine will provide a donation that is equivalent to six meals.

“Friends & partners of GSFB have the opportunity to SAVE up to 5% on the power
supply portion of their monthly Central Maine Power (CMP) or Bangor Hydro Electric (BHE) bill by enrolling with Electricity Maine.” states Emile Clavet, co-owner of Electricity Maine. “We all like to buy local whenever we can. Our customers receive the same service, maintenance and billing from CMP and BHE. By choosing Electricity Maine the power supply portion of your bill will always be lower than the current standard offer. Enroll, save and help feed Mainers in need today by logging onto www.electricityme.com.”
The largest hunger relief organization in Maine, Good Shepherd Food Bank provides for those at risk of hunger by soliciting and distributing surplus food to more than 600 partner agencies. Since 1981, the Food Bank has partnered with individuals, businesses and farmers to alleviate hunger and build community relationships. In 2011, the Food Bank distributed 12.5 million pounds of food to families and individuals throughout Maine. For more information regarding this program please visit www.gsfb.org or call (207) 782-3554.

Congratulations, Brenda, on pointing out to the Governor's Office that nonprofit enterprises are the third leg of economic stability. Private businesses will not do it alone. Government is responsible for many services we all take for granted--and want!
Excellent response to Lauren LePage, Brenda. It is tough to argue with the facts and perhaps our governor and his staff will learn to broaden their focus-I would bet Maine's non-profit businesses touch more Maine peoples' lives than any of the businesses he hosts at the forum. Keep up the good work!

Just a clarification - I don't believe Lauren LePage "refused to invite MANP", she is just delivering the message that the Governor's Office has decided that space is going first to for-profit businesses. Other nonprofits who requested a seat received similar e-mails.

Tom Bell did indeed write an article that no longer appears to be online.

As of 7:30 pm the article about the governor's daughter refusal to invite the Maine Association of Nonprofits to the workshop has been removed from the Portland Press Herald. Do you think they are embarrassed? I would think so.
